Sonoma Mountain Cemetery tour -April 6, 2025

Sonoma Mountain Cemetery Tour lead by historians with added special visits by some of Sonoma’s former residents
Who provided 6,000 gallons of his own wine reserves to squelch the big fire of 1911 on East 1st Street? Who was pals with Jack and Charmian London and received birthday cards from several past and present U.S. presidents on her 100th birthday? Who created a whole new industry (not wine!) that brought thousands of tourists and dollars to the Sonoma Valley?
Learn about these and more personalities interned at the City of Sonoma Mountain Cemetery when the Sonoma Valley Historical Society (SVHS) inaugurates the Mountain Cemetery Tour on Sunday, April 6, 2025. Tour groups of 10-15 will be staggered from mid-morning to early afternoon. The groups will start the tour at the Mountain Cemetery water fountain (look for signs upon arrival). Parking available in the Overlook Trail and Veterans Memorial Building parking lots or on 1st Street West.
The cemetery is situated on the western slope of Schocken Hill and will therefore require tour guests to be capable of walking on steep terrain, wearing suitable walking/hiking footwear, bringing drinking water, and a walking stick (optional). The tour will last approximately one hour and fifteen minutes.
Cost: Donation requested. Space is limited; first come first served. To register: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/sonoma-mountain-cemetery-tour-tickets-1289131730709?aff=oddtdtcreator
