Tales Of The Old Sea Dog Captain William Smith -The Pacific coast’s most colorful and enduring sailor of the early 19th century

March 18 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Tales Of The Old Sea Dog—a look at Captain William Smith. In this one hour talk and PowerPoint presentation we look at the Pacific coast’s most colorful and enduring sailor of the early 19th century. Buried in a “special place” in Sonoma’s  Mountain View Cemetery, Captain William Smith arrived on the  Pacific coast in 1792 and until 1819 sailed in the sea otter trade. CW Bayer has uncovered his amazing adventures—a saga of nations, ships, hunters, trade and daring on the high seas off California
